God Uses Small Things

“But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty.”

1 Corinthians 1:27

You don’t have to be big for God to use you to do big things.

When you study the Christmas story, you quickly realize how often God chose what the world would consider small, insignificant, or unimpressive to bring about the greatest event in history—the birth of the Messiah.

Small People in a Big Story

God used Zacharias and Elizabeth, an older couple long past the season of expectation, and through them came John the Baptist—the forerunner of Christ.

God chose Mary, a young virgin girl from a place no one respected. She wasn’t well-known, influential, or powerful. Yet God selected her to carry the Savior of the world.

Then there’s Joseph, a simple carpenter. No royal blood. No special status. Just a faithful man willing to obey God.

Mary herself came from Nazareth, a town with a poor reputation. “Can any good thing come out of Nazareth?” people asked. And yet, God chose someone from that very place.

Small Places, Simple Settings

Christ wasn’t born in a palace—but in Bethlehem, a small town described in Scripture as the least among many.

Not in a home.
Not in an inn.
But in a stable.

Laid in a manger.

No spotlight. No crowd. No applause.

And yet, this was God’s chosen plan.

God Gets the Glory

God delights in using what the world overlooks. Small things. Weak things. Ordinary people. Why? Because when God works through what seems insignificant, He gets the glory.

It’s not about talent.
It’s not about credentials.
It’s not about income, position, or ability.

It’s about God working in us.

A Quiet Encouragement Today

You may feel small. Overlooked. Ordinary. Unqualified.

But the Christmas story reminds us that God specializes in using small things to accomplish great purposes. If He could use a manger, a stable, a small town, and ordinary people to bring Christ into the world—He can certainly use you.

Don’t underestimate what God can do with a willing heart.

God uses small things to do big things.
