Sometimes God slows life down so He can quiet our hearts and speak clearly.
“Be still, and know that I am God.”
— Psalm 46:10
We’re here in the frozen tundra of North Carolina — ice and snow crunching underfoot, schedules disrupted, plans delayed, and the week feeling anything but normal. Everything seems off. But standing in it, a thought settled in: God knows exactly what we need.
Sometimes God uses moments like this to slow us down. To press pause. To make us wait. Not as an inconvenience, but as an invitation. An invitation to quiet our hearts, rest our souls, and listen. In a world that never stops moving, God knows how to make us still — and often, that stillness is where He speaks most clearly.
So if you’re snowed in, stuck, or slowed down today, don’t waste the pause. Take time to pray. Open your Bible. Ask God what He’s doing in your life and how He wants to be glorified through it. Enjoy your home. Enjoy your family. Let your heart catch up to your body. It’s okay to come apart and rest for a moment — before the pace picks back up again.
And then, when it’s time, we’ll dig out, shovel sidewalks, and get moving once more. But don’t miss what God may be doing in the quiet. Sometimes He slows the world down so He can steady our souls.
