Get Back After It!

What begins as caution must never settle into complacency — God’s work still calls us forward.

Over the last little while here in North Carolina, we’ve been knocked off schedule. Weather slowed things down. People got stuck inside. Routines were interrupted. And I’m sure many have found themselves under a blanket, watching more television than usual, living outside their normal rhythm.

Now for some of us, that normal rhythm is busy — full of movement, productivity, and purpose. But for the last couple of weeks, life was put on pause. And here’s the danger: what we did out of safety, wisdom, and necessity can quietly bleed into laziness if we’re not careful.

The Bible gives a warning — “Woe to them that are at ease in Zion.” God never called His people to be comfortable, idle, or disengaged. Pausing for a moment is one thing. Settling into complacency is another. And I don’t want to be lazy for God.

So let me ask you — while things were slowed down, what did you do with that time? How much Bible reading did you get done? How much prayer did you offer up to God? Did you plan ahead for when the weather broke? Did you prepare yourself spiritually to move forward again?

The weather has broken now. We’re back at it. Meetings are happening. Ministry is moving. Full speed ahead. But I want to challenge you — don’t allow caution to turn into complacency, and don’t let complacency harden into callousness.

It may be cold outside, but don’t let it get cold on the inside. God’s work is still before us. Souls still matter. Eternity is still real. So get up. Get moving. Advance the ball down the field for the glory of God. Do something today that counts for eternity.

Let’s keep going forward for God.
