Proof That Cannot Be Argued

The Resurrection Declares That Jesus Is God

By Justin Cooper  ·  Romans 1:4 · Luke 24

You can go to any cemetery in this world and find the markers of famous men. Authors. Soldiers. Statesmen. Presidents. Explorers. Religious leaders. But noticeably absent from every cemetery ever marked since the dawn of man is one name — the name above every name.

Because death could not hold Him. The grave could not keep Him. And that one fact is the most powerful argument ever made for the deity of Jesus Christ.

"…declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead."

Romans 1:4

You Can't Argue With an Empty Tomb

Some will argue the deity of Christ on the basis of His birth — and there are those who will say the record is incomplete. Some will argue it on the merit of His life — and they'll try to find moments where they claim He fell short. Some will take apart the scriptures and say some of it wasn't really the Word of God.

But you cannot argue with the fact that He didn't stay dead. There have been many great men throughout history. Only one died and lived again.

"Jesus did not need helped up or helped out — He just stepped out. Because He is God."

— Justin Cooper

If you could call roll in the realm of the dead — call for Muhammad, call for Buddha, call for Confucius — the answer comes back: present. But call out the name of Jesus in that same place, and a different answer rings out from the corridors of the dead: He is not here. He is risen.

Resurrection separates Christianity from every cult and philosophy and world religion. It separates Jesus from every false prophet. It is the keystone of our faith — the thing that distinguishes what we believe from everything else the world has ever offered. We don't serve a dead founder. We don't follow a dead leader. We serve a risen Savior.

What This Means for You Today

We don't follow a philosopher. We don't follow a charismatic teacher. The head of this faith is God Himself — the almighty, omnipotent, everlasting Alpha and Omega, the resurrection and the life.

That means the One you're trusting with your marriage, your children, your health, your fears, your future — He is God. Not a well-meaning teacher. Not a historical figure. Not one option among many. The empty tomb is God's megaphone echoing through the ages: Jesus is Lord.

Prayer

Father, thank You that I don't serve a guess, a theory, or a legend — I serve the living God who walked out of a tomb. Today, let my confidence rest not in my own understanding, but in the undeniable, immovable truth that Jesus is Lord. I trust my life to You because You are worthy of that trust. In Jesus' name, Amen.
